Liverpool School of Architecture

Project Description:

The Liverpool School of Architecture is the oldest recognised school of architecture in the United Kingdom. The buildings date to the original 18th century terrace houses facing Abercromby Square; with further additions in 1933 and the 1970’s & 80’s.

The extension will provide 2400sqm of open, bright and environmentally sustainable learning and social space with the additional refurbishment providing 7000sqm of improved facilities. The Leverhulme build will have full MEP strip out and replacement to greatly reduce the carbon footprint and improve efficiency.

Key Challenges:

  • Complex Temporary Works Design

  • High levels of Asbestos

  • Extensive structural investigation works

  • Unknown services

  • Works to a live occupied building

  • Developing a maintenance strategy
