Project description

London’s famous grade II* listed Battersea Power Station comprises two individual coal powered power stations, built in two stages in the form of a single building.

Battersea A Power Station was built in the 1930s, with Battersea B Power Station to its east, built in the 1950s. The two stations were built to an identical design, providing the well-known four-chimney layout.

Battersea Power Station is a mixed-use development designed by Wilkinson Eyre Architects. It brings together a balanced mixture of uses, including a contemporary Grade A commercial office across the central 6 floors within the old boilerhouse; a sequence of new public spaces, and pedestrian routes activated by new high-quality retail and restaurant spaces. The higher levels have been reserved for residential on both annexes and on the boilerhouse roof, totalling 253 units.
