Project description
The project comprised Phase 2 of a wider 3-phase development scheme, to refurbish 20 Bank Plain, a grade II listed building owned by the University of the Arts in Norwich.
Refurbishment works were devised to create an accessible, inviting and creative space for student and staff collaboration and learning, and a space for the local community to gather and engage.
- Creation of a new project space; a multi-functional, multi-disciplinary, flexible studio space to support projects across the whole of Norwich University of the Arts programmes.
- A new Canteen and Social Workspace area repurposing the existing kitchen facilities and retention of the existing climbing wall, creating a vibrant and active canteen and workspace to eat, socialise and learn.
- Creation of a dedicated Student Support Hub and an active and engaging space with a welcoming area leading to offices and meeting rooms (for 1-1 support).
- New feature staircase connecting first and second floor student support services area.
- Dedicated Student Union area to support the entire student community by creating a flexible and adaptable space to support student study, and host social and informal events, clubs and societies.
- The refurbishment of existing historic gates (outer) and replacement of existing modern steel gates with painted timber gates to match existing historic gates.
