York Gate is a residential development located in Bedminster, South Bristol. It encompasses 0.43ha and was formerly occupied by Bart Ingredients Company (BIC). It is bound by York Road, St Luke’s Road, and Mead Street. The site forms part of the ‘Mead Street Development Area’ of the extended Bristol Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone that is identified in the emerging Local Plan. The Royal Mail South-East Delivery Office is located immediately adjacent to the site to the Northeast.

The plan is to deliver 221 affordable new homes which will be let and managed by a housing association partner. There will be a selection of one, two, and three-bed energy-efficient family homes which will all meet national space standards as a minimum.

All homes will have private outdoor amenities and access to a larger shared amenity. A high-quality palette of materials is being used throughout.

The basement will comprise of residents’ parking and sprinkler tanks, and the ground floor will contain several retail units, along with cycle storage, residential amenities and various MEP installations.
