Project description
Manchester Town Hall is a historically significant Grade 1 listed building dating back to 1877.
Manchester City Council have embarked on an ambitious project to undertake a full internal and external refurbishment to re-establish its former glory, and to also rationalise the internal space and enhance connectivity.
Specialist contractors have been sourced from throughout Europe to manage the many traditional work packages i.e. mosaic tiles, stained glass windows and metal work.
Works include, but are not limited to:
- Full roof repair including lead gutters and slate replacement
- Refurbishment of a 280ft, 4.8m diameter tower clock
- Refurbishment/replacement of all heritage features
- Installation of passenger lifts
- Bringing the building up to current fire standards
- Full asbestos removal
- Full refurbishment of all stained-glass windows
- Large scale MEP replacement
